announced today that it will begin offering new portable
battery-driven chargers for wireless phones, giving its customers the
power to charge their phones on the go.

Nokia has
started its first tests of a technology that allows users to roam
seamlessly between phone networks and local wireless hotspots such as
Wi-Fi.
The public Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) pilot over Wireless LAN
will last at least two months and is being conducted under real life
surroundings and conditions. Fifty families from the city of Oulu in northern Finland
will test the technology with the help of brand new Nokia 6136
devices.
The Nokia 6136 was among the first Nokia mobile phones to offer UMA
capabilities, to allow seamless handovers of voice and data
connections between GSM cellular and WLAN networks. In other words,
it combines the benefits of mobile and fixed landline through voice

Samsung announced today that it has developed the industry's highest
density MMC cards for portable applications.
Based on Samsung's 8-gigabit (Gb) NAND
flash memory, the MMCplus card will be
introduced with an 8-gigabyte (GB) density, allowing it to store

Google today
announced that it has begun offering mobile phone users in more than
30 major U.S.
cities the capacity to view highway maps with "live"
traffic data.
After downloading Google Maps for mobile through their mobile phone's
web browser, users simply move to the desired location within the
application and select "show traffic" in the menu. The most
up-to-date traffic information will be sent directly to the users'
mobile device, and will highlight the conditions on the covered
